I have been a cosmetologist for thirty years. Twenty-one years ago, I was ready to begin a career at Sunsetters, a new salon with a lot of potential and a team of great stylists.
I absolutely love being a stylist! I am given an opportunity every day to make someone feel better about themselves. And it’s not just about what I do with their hair. I like talking to my clients, encouraging them, letting them know I believe in them. The icing on top of the cake for me is when they see their hair and their eyes light up. It feels good knowing that my clients feel better about themselves after they leave my chair.
I really enjoy hi-lites, transforming color and perms, but in 21 years, I’ve done it all! But, my proudest moments come after styling a bride’s hair for her special day. It’s exciting to play a part in a day the bride has dreamed about for years.
When I’m not at the salon, I’m attending sporting events (I have four children who have always been actively involved in sports!), baking, crafting, working in my yard, or spending time with my family. My father and father-in- law are “retired” farmers, but are still actively involved in the day to day operations, as are my mother and mother-in- law. If a time came, when I couldn’t be a stylist, I’d be right there, on the farm.
For now, I am where I am supposed to be, right here at Sunsetters!
